Driveway Cleaning Coventry

Professional pressure washing for driveways, patios and block paving. The right pressure and cleaner for every surface.

We are DNA Driveways Coventry, the driveway and paving side of DNA Landscapes. Because we lay every type of surface, we know how hard each one can be cleaned without damaging it, and how to bring it back without stripping it.

Why it matters

More than a quick jet wash

An Indian stone drive after cleaning.

Once moss and algae get a hold on a drive they spread fast, and a surface that looked crisp when it was laid turns a dull green. A dirty drive makes a well-kept house look neglected from the street.

A garden-centre jet washer can make a dent in it, but it can also do damage. Too much pressure lifts tarmac stones, blows sand out of block paving joints and scars softer stone. We use professional equipment with interchangeable heads and controlled pressure, so the clean is deeper and safer.

We also collect and take away the dirt and algae we lift. Washing it into the nearest drain can block it, which is not a problem you want to hand your neighbours.

Surface by surface

The right clean for each surface

Block paving

Hard enough for a strong clean, which shifts even stubborn black spots. We keep the head at a flat angle to protect the joints, then re-sand with kiln-dried sand on the next dry day, never the same day.

Tarmac

Needs far lower pressure. The pressure used on block paving would strip tarmac’s surface stones and open it up to water and frost, which is how potholes start.

Sandstone and Indian stone

Softer and more porous. We apply a cleaning agent and give it time to loosen the dirt, then rinse at a much gentler pressure.

Porcelain, slate and granite

Each gets its own cleaner and pressure. If we’re not certain what a surface is, we test a small area first.

Concrete and imprinted

Tough surfaces, but we take care around expansion joints and the sealed finish of imprinted concrete.

Patio joints

If you plan to re-point, we clear out loose jointing to give the new mortar a sound base. If not, we go gently along the joints.

Patios too

Patio cleaning

  • Pressure washing a dark porcelain patio next to garden furniture and planters
Patios get the same surface-by-surface care
  • Close-up of a pressure washer jet cleaning a strip through dirty stone paving
Controlled pressure lifts dirt without scarring the stone

Patios usually have far more joints than a driveway, and often softer stone, so they need a lighter touch. Once the slabs are clean, it’s the ideal time to re-point the joints and seal the surface, so it stays that way for longer.

Questions

Driveway cleaning questions

Will pressure washing damage my driveway?

It can if the pressure is wrong for the surface, which is why we adjust it for each one. Tarmac and sandstone need much gentler treatment than block paving or concrete.

Do you re-sand block paving after cleaning?

Yes. Some jointing sand inevitably comes out, so we brush in kiln-dried sand on the next dry day. Never the same day, because damp sand clumps and won’t settle into the joints.

Can you seal my driveway after cleaning it?

Yes. Sealing straight after a clean locks in the result. The surface has to be completely dry first, so we leave at least 24 hours, and longer in damp weather.

Do you clean patios as well as driveways?

Yes: Indian stone, sandstone, porcelain, slate, granite, limestone, marble, block paving and concrete, each with the right cleaner and pressure.

What happens to the dirt you wash off?

We collect it and take it away rather than washing it into a drain, where it could cause a blockage.

Do you offer regular cleaning?

Our annual clean and seal service, at a discounted rate, is available for driveways we have installed.
